The full line-up of acts appearing at Ashford’s biggest musical festival has been unveiled.
The 2009 Create Music Festival will be held at Victoria Park on Sunday, July 26 from noon until 8pm.
It’s the town’s biggest annual music event and is expected to attract thousands of visitors.
This year’s Create is the 14th and the organisers say they have pulled together the strongest line up ever.
The line-up includes up and coming singer-songwriter Nick Harrison who was recently signed to A&M records and alternative rockers Hold Fire, soon to release their debut album after a tour of the UK and Japan, playing the main stage before the Counterfeit Quo, Status Quo tribute act.
The line up is completed by Black Market Karma, Kingskin, Robert Harris, The Flack, Phantom Lacuna, Modern Beach and Stone Thrower.
In addition to the main stage acts, there is also the Right Track Music School Stage for top and up-and-coming Ashford bands to get a taste of performing at Create.
Headlining here are Tenterden based Carnelian, supported by Ashford’s indie rock brothers Joel and Jericho Tozer who front the band Flat Lung.
The DJ stage will be run by new underground label Sideways Recordings serving up tracks from both developing artists and established producers. Acts include Thom, Episodes and Keydin.
As well as the music the festival will also include Monty Hammond’s Worldwide Funfair, various exhibition stalls, face painting, children’s attractions and food stalls.
Chris Dixon, arts development officer for Ashford Borough Council, said: “The festival this year doesn’t need selling, given the big names we have attracted.
“This is all credit to our dedicated team of volunteers and music providers who work so hard, year on year to make Ashford’s big a day a roaring success.”
