With Valentine’s Day just a fortnight away, the search is winding up to find Ashford’s least romantic man.
For the second year running, the manager of The Pheasant is hoping to hear horror stories from the hard-done-by women of the town. And the tale of the least romantic man will win the ‘unlucky’ lady a free evening at the pub, in Trinity Road on the Eureka Place business park.
Landlord Kellie McDonald, 43, is seeking tales of the unchivalrous behaviour of people’s partners or attempts at romance gone wrong, with bonus points for lack of effort and a blissful unawareness of what their lovers want.
Last year the competition prompted an outpouring of frustration from female readers of the Kentish Express.
Kellie said: “We had some lovely stories put forward and some quite heart-warming tales too. It went so well last year that we thought we would run the contest again.
“We want to keep things light-hearted, so we don’t want anything too sad.
“But if your man is somebody who sees Valentine’s Day as just another day, and not as a time to celebrate your relationship, we’d love to hear from you.”
The winner will be rewarded with a three-course meal and a bottle of bubbly at The Pheasant. Their partner’s presence will be optional.
The lady will also receive a rose and a box of chocolates, for sticking by their man through thick and thin.
The winner will be chosen by Kellie and will be announced in the Kentish Express next Thursday, February 6.
To enter write to Kentish Express, 34-36 North Street, Ashford, TN24 8JR or email kentishexpress@thekmgroup.co.uk telling us why the man in your life loves avoiding love!
