A 34-year-old man has been charged after a woman was verbally abused when she was approached for money in Ashford.
Officers charged Thomas Scorey, of no fixed address, with using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear against a person on Sunday.
It follows an incident in Mace Lane on Wednesday, September 18, where a woman was verbally abused after she was approached by a person asking for money.
Mr Scorey has been bailed and will appear at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, October 23.
Inspector Jason Atkinson from Ashford Community Safety Unit said: "We are committed to keeping Ashford safe and will take the necessary action when concerns are raised regarding anti-social behaviour.
"Residents who experience any issues including nuisance behaviour and begging are urged to report it to Kent Police either online or by calling 101 (or 999 if a crime is in action) so they can been looked into. It also helps to highlight to officers where recurring concerns are in the town."
