Man dies after crash on A20 near Ashford

A man has died and another been injured following a crash on a major route.

The incident happened on the A20 near Ashford on Tuesday (February 18) just before 11am.

A black Nissan Qashqai car travelling from Sandyhurst Lane had crossed the A20 towards Godinton Lane near Hothfield, next to the Hare and Hounds pub.

It was then involved in a collision with a white Audi A3 travelling towards Maidstone.

The two occupants of the Qashqai were taken to hospital and the driver, an 84-year-old man, died the following day.

The driver of the Audi went to the William Harvey Hospital with injuries not reported to be serious.

A police spokesman said: “Our serious collision investigation unit is investigating and urges anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them.
