A man in his 20s died in a two-car crash in Chart Road, Ashford, last night.

He was driving a purple Ford Fiesta which collided with a black Volvo XC90 at about 9.30pm.

The vehicles were travelling in opposite directions when they crashed near the Matalan roundabout on Brookfield Road.

The Fiesta driver, who is from Ashford, died at the scene. His next of kin has been made aware.

The driver of the Volvo suffered minor injuries.

Police closed the road between Brookfield Road and the roundabout on Templer Way to allow officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit to investigate.

An air ambulance landed in Great Chart football field at about 10.30pm and left the scene shortly after 11pm.
