Murder accused Darren McKay appears in court in connection with death of Lee Walden in Kennington flat

A 38-year-old man accused of murdering Lee Walden, whose body was discovered in a block of flats in Kennington, Ashford, has appeared at Maidstone Crown Court.

Darren McKay, of Beecholme Drive, was not asked to enter a plea during the brief hearing.

He is accused of killing Mr Walden, 51, between May 15 and 17, when his body was found in a ground floor flat in Cherry Tree House.

Police were called to the flats in Bybrook Road on May 17. Mr Walden was believed to have suffered head injuries.

McKay and a 32-year-old woman from Ashford were arrested later that day. The woman has been bailed until June 16.

McKay was remanded in custody and will return to court to enter a plea on June 17. A preliminary trial date was set for November 28.
