Hit-and-run sparks emergency closure of White Hill, between Wye and Challock near Ashford

Police have shut a road and are searching for a driver after a male pedestrian was injured in a hit-and-run.

The incident happened on White Hill, which connects Wye and Challock near Ashford, at about 11.30am today.

Police were called to a collision involving a dark green estate car and a man.

The vehicle was not at the scene when officers arrived, and enquiries are ongoing to locate the driver.

A police spokeswoman said: “South East Coast Ambulance Service assisted at the scene and took the pedestrian to hospital for further treatment.

“Officers are carrying out a number of enquiries, including reviewing CCTV footage, to identify the driver of the vehicle involved.

“Anyone who has any information regarding the incident, or who has private CCTV or dashcam footage which might assist, should call Kent Police on 01843 222289 quoting 27-0467.

Police patrols remain at the scene and are diverting traffic back towards Ashford.
