A masked young woman attacked a man near a cash machine in what witnesses described as a stabbing.

The victim was taken to hospital and police are treating the attack in Folkestone as an attempted robbery.

He was approached by the teenager - wearing a red hooded coat with a scarf across her face - near an ATM in Foord Road, at about 10pm on Monday.

Police said the 50-year-old victim was attacked with a weapon, but it is not confirmed what that was or where on the body he was struck.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "The victim suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment."

South East Coast Ambulance Service said the victim suffered a "minor facial wound" and was treated at hospital.

Witnesses or anyone with information is asked to phone Kent Police on 101, quoting crime reference 01-1492.
