A man suffered burns to his hands after a fire broke out at a house in Ashford today.

Fire crews were sent to the property in Hillbrow Road just before 2pm and found a flat roof well alight.

A man thought to be in his 30s received minor burns to his hands and was given first aid at the scene.

Firefighters carried out salvage operations on the first floor to rescue some of the residents’ property and possessions from the house.

The blaze has now been brought under control.
