A man suffered life-threatening injuries after a suspected drink driver smashed into a lamppost.
Officers are appealing for witnesses after a blue Kia Rio reportedly collided with the light in Ashford at about 11.10pm last night.
A man who was in the vehicle sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to a London hospital where he remains in a serious condition.
The incident happened in Forge Lane near the junction with Norwood Gardens.
A 21-year-old man from Ashford was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and taken into custody. He was later bailed to return to the police station on September 17, pending further investigation.
A police spokesperson added: “Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are working to establish the full circumstances, and are appealing for anyone who saw the collision, or the vehicle beforehand, to come forward.
