PARTS of a town centre were sealed off after a man threatened to jump from a multi-storey car park.

Police officers were called to Edinburgh Road, Ashford, at about 6.15pm on Wednesday to deal with the incident.

They closed North Street and Park Street and brought in a police negotiator.

At around 7pm the man surrendered to police and he was arrested for causing a public nuisance.

He was taken into custody and later released without charge.
