Ashford Town's miserable run continued with a 4-0 defeat at Merstham in Ryman League Division 1 South on Saturday.

The Nuts and Bolts have now conceded nine goals in their last two league games and are firmly rooted in the relegation zone with five points from eight games.

Michael Gordon opened the scoring after 24 minutes, deflecting a shot past Dan Mason in the Town goal, and the winger made it 2-0 shortly after the break.

It was 3-0 after 55 minutes when Dan Bennett headed home a Gordon cross and the final goal came from John Hamsher two minutes from time.

Meanwhile, Folkestone Invicta suffered a 1-0 defeat against Hitchin in the preliminary round of the FA Trophy.

Goal-shy Invicta lost to an 88th-minute goal from Jamie Arlick at the Buzzlines Stadium and now haven't scored in four games and have just nine goals in 11 games in all competitions this season.
