Motorcyclist airlifted to London hospital after crash with car in Hamstreet Road, Ashford

A motorcyclist was airlifted to a London hospital following a crash which saw a road shut for several hours.

Police, paramedics and the air ambulance were called just after 6pm yesterday to the collision involving a car and a motorbike in Hamstreet Road, Ashford.

Crews attended the scene where the rider was treated for injuries before he was airlifted to Kings College Hospital in London for further medical treatment.

A spokesperson for the air ambulance confirmed that the patient was taken to a major trauma centre.

The road was closed while emergency service dealt with the incident and reopened at about 9pm.

The motorcyclist's injuries are not described as life-threatening.

The ambulance service has also been contacted for comment.
