A man who caused a motorway to be closed after apparently threatening to jump from a bridge has been taken to hospital.

He was seen yesterday on the wrong side of footbridge railings near Junction 10 of the M20 at Ashford.

Officers were deployed to the area shortly after 3.15pm and the road was closed for 10 minutes.

It was established that the man had climbed back over the railings and walked off in the direction of Sevington.

After a search he was located later in the afternoon, arrested by police and taken to hospital.
