Motorway still closed after spillage

Part of the M20 remains closed into this afternoon following a spillage on the coastbound carriageway.

Kent Police were called out at 8.45am following reports of the incident between Junction 8 at Hollingbourne and Junction 9 at Ashford.

Kent Police, working with Kent Fire and Rescue Service, closed the road as a precaution and confirmed that the spillage is non-hazardous.

But officers said that the road would be closed at least until 3pm today to allow vehicles to be removed and the road cleared.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "Motorists are therefore temporarily advised to take alternative routes."
