A young mum says she is scared for her and her daughter after her car was wrecked by fire.
Fire crews were called to Lynsted Close in Stanhope, Ashford early this morning to reports a Nissan Micra was well alight.
The car, which was completely gutted, belongs to Rebecca Eastwood, 21, who relies on it to get to college and to take her daughter to nursery.
Miss Eastwood said: “What we think has happened is that someone broke into the car to steal the CD player, speakers and weirdly my spare wheel. And then torched it to get rid of the finger prints.”
She added: "I don't feel safe now living here."
Miss Eastwood, mum to Paisley-Jo, two, says they were first alerted to the blaze when her mum was woken by a bang at around 5am this morning.
Looking out the window, she noticed two people, both wearing hoodies, running down the road.
Another neighbour also reported seeing two people leave the scene.
It wasn't just the car that was damaged in the fire as the flames also spread to the garden fence.
In addition, items left in the car have also been destroyed, including Miss Eastwood's college uniform, and Paisley-Jo's coat, car seat and toys.
Police are now investigating the incident.
A spokesman said: "Kent Police received a call just after 6am, from a woman reporting a car fire which she suspected may have been started deliberately in Lynsted Close.
"Inquiries are ongoing."
