Has elusive graffiti artist Banksy been at work in a Kent village, or is it just a patriotic imitator?

An illustration in the style of the artist and film maker has appeared on the wall of the former Co-op building in Ashford Road, High Halden.

It shows two children saluting with their right hands on their chests as a third raises a Union Jack.

Villager Danny Lovett spotted the illustration, which he thought was done last Wednesday night.

“It just appeared overnight,” he said. “It certainly looks like a Banksy.”
Banksy, a Bristol-born artist, film maker and political activist, has always hidden his true identity.

His work in a distinctive stencilling technique has appeared on walls and bridges around the world.

How long the piece of art will stay on the former Co-op is unknown.

There are plans to re-open the building as a convenience store, possibly a Londis.
