M20 bridge set to open soon

The competition to find a name for the new M20 footbridge is now in full swing.

Scores have already put forward names but if you haven't yet there's still time to enter, before the closing date of next Wednesday (November 9).

Kent County Council is keen to find a name for the £8 million footbridge that crosses the motorway, linking the Warren Retail Park to the Eureka Leisure Park.
So in conjunction with KCC, the Kentish Express and kmfm has launched the competition to find a suitable name. The aim is to find a name that is distinctive and recognisable, but we’re open to all suggestions.
KCC highways boss Cllr Bryan Sweetland said: “This is a unique opportunity for someone living in Ashford to have their suggested name for the new bridge selected as the official name."

Maybe you think the bridge should be named after a well-known Ashfordian, an important event from the town’s past, or perhaps something more modern and striking.

The person whose suggested name is selected will be a VIP guest at the bridge’s official opening in November.

To enter all you have to do is email or send your suggested name, with a brief reason for your choice, together with your name, address and contact phone number to Kentish Express, 34 North Street, Ashford TN24 8JR, email kentishexpress@thekmgroup.co.uk
