Nando's has joined Ashford Designer Outlet, filling an empty unit in the centre's £90m extension.
The chicken chain opened at the Kimberley Way site this week, becoming its second restaurant in the town.
The news Nando's would be opening at the outlet came as a shock as the chain had said only a year before it would not be opening a restaurant at the shopping centre.
The company was originally banned from joining the site when the extension was approved in 2015.
It was one of 39 businesses restricted in an agreement by Ashford Borough Council and owners McArthurGlen in a bid to protect the town centre.
But after a review, Nando's has been allowed to open at the outlet and has now welcomed its first customers.
The South African chain has filled a unit next to Yo! Sushi, opposite Timberland and TOG24.
The company already has a restaurant in Ashford on Eureka Leisure Park.
