National cyclo-cross champion Ian Field Picture: British Cycling

New national cyclo-cross champion Ian Field says he will wear the prestigious rainbow jersey with pride after realising a 10-year dream with victory in Ipswich.
It was a significant moment for the 25-year-old, who has had the title in his sights since starting out in cyclo-cross aged 15.
The Ashford-born cyclist saw off the challenge of Liam Killeen, who crashed after clipping Field’s back wheel on the finishing straight.
He said: "I have been waiting a long time to become national champion.
"It’s definitely at the top of my achievements. A senior national title is special to anyone in cycling and for me, being a full-time cyclo-cross rider, winning the title means an awful lot.
"I have been working towards it since I was 15, so it’s been 10 years and while that’s been a long time coming, it was well worth the wait.
"I was a bit relieved to win it and I felt that all the sacrifices and hard work for that split second were worth it.
"Hopefully it will make things easier over the next year and I’m just looking forward to wearing the jersey and showing that off in Europe at all the races."
