Neil Cugley says Folkestone Invicta need to put some points on the board this month to boost their chances of being in the Ryman League Premier Division at the end of April.

After taking an excellent fourth point from two games at Bury Town on Saturday, Invicta suffered their first defeat in five games at home to Carshalton on Tuesday night.

The 2-1 loss meant third-bottom Invicta missed the chance to climb back out of the dropzone though fourth-bottom Aveley lost and basement boys Croydon only drew.

Folkestone boss Cugley (pictured) said the key for his side avoiding relegation was getting points on the board early.

He said: "We have a tough April so it’s important that we start winning games now.

"We have three bottom-half teams coming up and five home games left and it’s important we do our best to win those games."

On Saturday Invicta face a huge clash with fifth-bottom Hastings.

Invicta battled to a 2-2 draw in Sussex last month but Cugley said: "Both teams have started picking up points since then.

"We have got to continue where we left off on Tuesday. The lads have got to out there and enjoy playing in a big game, not be afraid.
Just do their best and try to enjoy it."

Micheal Everitt (knee) is doubtful for Saturday with Roland Edge set to replace him after suspension.
