Folkestone Invicta manager Neil Cugley has boosted his squad by signing two players from Tonbridge Angels.

Cugley has captured Luke Blewden, who can play in midfield or up front, and Matt Hollyoak, a former England Schoolboy international right-back.

He said: "They are both in their early 20s, with good attitudes, and can both play in a number of different positions which is handy for a club like ours that hasn’t got the biggest squad in the world."

With new striker Stuart King looking sharp in training, and players like Jimmy Dryden and James Everitt having hopefully overcome their long-term injury problems, a buoyant Cugley added: "It’s the best feeling I’ve had in pre-season for a few years and I’m looking forward to it."

Invicta’s first game back in Ryman League Division 1 South, following their relegation from the Premier Division, will be on August 20 at home to Walton & Hersham, who just missed out on the play-off spots last season.

Folkestone then face away trips to Corinthian Casuals on August 23 and Whyteleafe on August 27 before a home derby with Whitstable on Monday, August 29. They host Hythe on Boxing Day with the return on Easter Monday.

Invicta will meet Whyteleafe twice in the space of a fortnight as they have drawn the Surrey club at home in the FA Cup preliminary round on September 3.

Cugley’s side have also been given a home draw in the first qualifying round of the FA Trophy. They will meet Met Police, last season’s Ryman 1 South champions, at the Buzzlines Stadium on October 22.

Invicta’s opening pre-season friendly is at home to Badshot Lea on July 23.
