Folkestone manager Neil Cugley admits he is frustrated by his side’s inconsistency but insists they are still in the hunt for a Ryman League, Division 1 South promotion play-off place.
Invicta have been among the leading contenders for promotion all season and have not dropped out of the top six since September.
However, Saturday’s shock 1-0 defeat at home to basement boys Whyteleafe was their fourth defeat in their last six games and meant they had won just two of their last 11 ahead of last night’s (Wednesday) visit of Walton Casuals to the Buzzlines.
Cugley (pictured) said: "It has been disappointing. We are a young team but we are far too inconsistent and it is frustrating.
"Hopefully, we can sort it out and finish strongly. It is still in our hands and quite simply if we win our remaining games we’ll be in the play-offs.
"I am always fairly realistic and if you don’t make it by the end of the season then you were quite simply not good enough."
Invicta travel to fourth-placed Worthing on Saturday and Cugley added: "Worthing will be in the play-offs no matter what result we get there, which leaves us, Maidstone, Godalming and maybe Chipstead to fight for the last place."
Josh Vincent is expected to miss the run-in with a leg injury which saw him on crutches last Saturday. Top scorer Stuart King begins a three-match suspension while Micheal Everitt will start a two-match ban for collecting 10 bookings after the Worthing game.
