Neil Cugley says Folkestone Invicta’s march to the higher reaches of the Ryman League, Division 1 South table is more enjoyable than their promotion campaign two years ago.
Seven straight wins have moved Invicta into the top three and they have the chance to take over at the top with victory at third-bottom Burgess Hill Town on Saturday.
Cugley (pictured) said: "We are a far better footballing side now. We have got better players, we play more football and all of it in a league that is a lot stronger than it was then.
"Two years ago there were a lot of things hanging over the club off the field – how many points we might lose, whether we would even keep going.
"That is all behind us and this season we can concentrate on playing football. It is more enjoyable to be a part of."
Despite the chance of taking over at the top on Saturday, Cugley is not setting any targets.
He said: "We want to go there and try to get maximum points. We’re all enjoying the run we’re on. It would be a big ask to win the league. We have no targets at all, we just want to keep enjoying ourselves and see where it takes us."
Roland Edge (ankle) will be assessed while Simon Austin, whose minutes have been limited by a knee problem, should be fully fit.
