Neil Cugley to continue Folkestone Invicta's attacking philosophy

Neil Cugley will persevere with his attacking mentality, despite being undone by counter-attack specialists Corinthian Casuals on Tuesday night.

The Folkestone Invicta manager saw his team beaten 3-1 but with just two Ryman League, Division 1 South games played, knows now is not the time to panic.

Cugley (pictured) said: "We played an attacking team who caught us on the break.

"It was disappointing as we are trying to play more attacking football this season but in doing that there is a danger that you can get caught.

"Last year we might have held on for a draw and smothered the game out but when you are playing like we are, you need to get goals when you get the chance. We had a lot of opportunities and ran the game for long periods but got no reward.

"We need to get the mix right and have the players to go back to five at the back if we need to. We have some good, attacking players and we’ll keep trying. If we aren’t getting the results, we’ll have to look at it differently but we’re not going to panic at the moment."

Cugley will be without Josh Burchell for the Bank Holiday weekend, due to an ankle injury. Folkestone start with a trip to Whyteleafe on Saturday and then entertain Whitstable, with two wins from their opening two games, on Monday. Darren Smith (suspended) is back for the Monday game.
