Play park plans revealed for land off Brisley Close and Coulter Road, in Kingsnorth, Ashford

An impressive new adventure park for children is set to be built in Ashford.

Full planning permission is being sought to create a play park in Kingsnorth, on empty land east of Brisley Close and west of Coulter Road.

If approved, it will feature a conical wooden climbing structure, zip wires, swings and a slide.

New picnic benches, paths and trees will also be added to the space.

A report on the project states: “The proposal is to design an informal piece of open space with an original and high quality bespoke play feature.

"The proposed development will improve the play facilities within the locality contributing to the creation of a healthy community."

Twenty-three neighbours have been notified of the plans, with only one objecting.

The objection raised concerns over the proximity of the play park to a main road as it would require “many of the children who wish to use (it) to cross this road thereby causing an increased risk to both drivers and pedestrians".

In addition, the objector said the park would lead to an increase in the number of cars parking in the area and would create noise pollution.

The proposal for the park comes form Ashford Borough Council (ABC) in partnership with Kingsnorth Parish Council.

The plans will be discussed at ABC’s planning committee, which will be held on Wednesday (September 23) at the Civic Centre, from 7pm, with the recommendation to approve.

Also due to be discussed at the meeting is the planned expansion of the Ashford Designer Outlet.
