Drivers travelling along the M20 motorway could soon be greeted by the sight of this new bridge.
This artist’s impression of what the new footbridge could look like features in an exhibition of major road improvements for Ashford going on show this week.
Residents and bsuinesses are being offered the chance to look at and comment on plans to improve capacity at junction 9 of the M20 and the nearby Drovers Roundabout.
Work on both schemes is set to begin next spring and finish in spring 2011.
Ashford’s Future says improvements to junction 9 and the Drovers Roundabout will make it easier to travel across town by car, foot or bike and help support future growth in areas such as Eureka Park and Repton Park.
Proposed changes include introducing new traffic signals, widening approach roads and building a landmark footbridge over the M20.
An exhibition detailing the schemes is being held at the Ashford International Hotel from 10am to 6pm on Friday, November 6 and 10am to 4pm on Saturday, November 7.
It will feature plans and maps of the proposed works and representatives of Ashford’s Future and Kent County Council will be on hand to answer questions and discuss any concerns.
Free transport is being laid on take exhibition visitors from the town centre to Ashford International Hotel. The E Line Stagecoach bus service will run a bus every half an hour from Elwick Road (opposite Debenhams).
