New-look shopping centre bucks downward trend

The revamped County Square shopping centre in Ashford has reported a huge increase in sales over the Christmas period.

Business was up 39.4 per cent at the end of December compared to the previous year.

Commercial manager Fran Burt, said: “At long last, shoppers are realising they can get what they want in Ashford, without having to travel further afield.”

Managing director of Ashford’s Future, Judith Armitt added: “This is good news and shows that even during very tough financial times, Ashford’s improved facilities are attracting more and more shoppers."
