New road scheme for town a step nearer

A transport scheme for expanding Ashford has been shortlisted for government funding.

The scheme involves building the new Victoria Way between the Romney Marsh/Beaver Road junction and Brookfield Road.

The boost comes after Ashford’s Future Partnership submitted an outline bid for a share of the £200m Community Infrastructure Fund (CIF).

Now they have been invited to submit a full bid for £16 million from the fund for transport schemes that support housing growth.

Victoria Way is a proposed new route to the south of the town centre which will link the A2042 Romney Marsh Road to the A28 Chart Road, taking some of the through traffic away from the town.
