Subway has finally opened the doors to its own unit in the Ashford Designer Outlet.
The branch used to run from a counter in the centre’s food court but due to the Outlet’s expansion work it was forced to move out of its original location.
Subway has now relocated to the former Crocs unit where it held its official opening last Saturday.
It follows the recent move of Lost Sheep Coffee earlier this month, which left the food court to move to the former Hamleys unit.
The recent changes are in preparation for the centre’s expansion which is set to begin early next year and will see 500 more jobs created in 50 new units, with the current food court demolished in the process.
An Outlet spokeswoman said: “Plans to expand the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Ashford began over three years ago and it’s now reaching the pivotal moment where construction can begin.
“Subway has relocated to the east side of the centre and is open for trading alongside Wagamama and Lost Sheep Coffee.
“The long-awaited expansion will further improve the offering for guests, providing a greater mix of designer brands, cafes and restaurants, as well as creating over 500 new jobs for the local area.”
Currently, McDonald’s, Spud-u-Like and Millie’s Cookies are still operating out of the food court but McDonald’s is the only one to have confirmed it will be staying in the shopping centre after the expansion.
After it closes its current restaurant on Saturday, January 6, McDonald’s will prepare to move into its own stand alone unit that will have about 200 seats.
The expansion work is due to be completed by 2019.
