A former solicitors’ office is to become the new home of a town centre nightspot in Ashford.
Owners of the Attic bar held their last event at their Bank Street venue before Christmas as they plan to move to larger premises later this year.
They have taken over the former Reeves & Co Solicitors in the Lower High Street and want to open before March.
Founder Kate Holton, of Godinton Road, said: “We had a break clause in our lease at the Attic so it was an opportunity to do something more.
“The solicitors has moved to another place in the High Street and it is perfect for us as it is right in the town centre.
“The Attic had a good reputation, but it was still a struggle for people to find it – and we needed somewhere bigger to put on the shows we want to do.”
The site – to be called the Junction – will feature a bar for 120 people on the ground floor.
The Music Hub college will take over the second floor, which will be able to cater for 50 students.
A live music room with space for 300 people will open behind the bar on the first floor. Offices will take up the third floor.
Mrs Holton, 38, said: “It is an exciting time for us and we have got the new building on a five-year lease.
"The Junction won’t be a place for people to go to just to get drunk, it will be a cultural experience where we will have lots of bands and performers.
"The town has not got enough venues offering live music at the moment, so we will try to change that. We plan to open seven days a week.”
