A teenage robber faces years behind bars after admitting terrifying raids on Romney Marsh.
Billy Williams, of St Martin's Road, New Romney, pleaded guilty to five charges relating to armed raids at St Mary's Bay Post Office, pictured right, and Jeff Mabey bookmakers, High Street, New Romney.
Customers including a great-grandfather with Alzheimer's disease were in the shop as Williams walked in with a shotgun.
The shop owner's son, 26-year-old Leigh Mabey, was ordered to fill a bag with cash during the raid on June 18 last year.
His father Jeff, who had left for a few minutes to go to the butcher's, said: "Clearly to walk around with a shotgun is a danger to society.
"I look forward to a long and just sentence."
Williams pleaded guilty on January 21 to robbing cash from Jeff Mabey bookmakers, robbing cash from the St Mary's Bay post office, possessing a firearm while committing an offence, possessing a firearm when prohibited and possessing an imitation firearm with intent.
Meanwhile 20-year-old Sean Edgar, of Grassmere, St Mary's Bay, also pleaded guilty to robbing cash from the St Mary's Bay post office.
An imitation handgun was used in the post office raid on July 22.
The manager of the Teelin Close store, Patricia Fagg, said at the time: "I have never been so frightened in all my life. I just freaked out and got under the counter."
The pair were remanded in custody and will be sentenced on February 28 at Maidstone Crown Court.
Williams, who was already banned from possessing a firearm at the time of the offences because he had served 10 months in youth custody, could face more than five years behind bars.
A copy of this story in today's Kentish Express attributed Billy Williams's offences to Sean Edgar and Edgar's offences to Williams. We apologise for the error.
