The bus company said: “Due to a medical issue on a bus, one of the C Journeys will not be running.

“Our driver is taking the passenger direct to A&E via the bus to get the assistance they require.”

A spokesperson for Stagecoach added: "We're proud of the actions of our driver, and our depot control officer, who worked together in the interests of a young person who became unwell while travelling on a bus on Tuesday evening.

“Their quick thinking and co-ordinated action meant we were able to get the passenger swiftly and directly to hospital for treatment."
