A Maidstone man attacked nursing staff after he was taken to hospital following a machete attack at his home.
Konstantin Shutov had gone to the William Harvey Hospital after being kicked out of his home.
But a judge heard that as caring nursing staff were trying to find accommodation, he hit one with a crutch and punched another.
Warehouseman Shutov, 28, of Sheals Crescent, told one victim: “This is what men do in Bulgaria.”
Prosecutor Edmund Body told Maidstone Crown Court that following his release from hospital in November, he then attacked a police officer near Maidstone station.
He said Shutov slapped him in the face causing a small cut near his eye and then carried on his aggression on a PC James Quinn throwing several punches.
Now Shutov has been given a 26 week jail sentence after admitting seven charges of assaulting emergency workers and one of causing criminal damage to a police cell.
He then told the judge: “I want to apologise for everything...and I want to thank you for your judgment.”
Mr Body told how in hospital Shutov began complaining about the noise and then threw a bowl of porridge against the wall.
Security officials were called in after the attack with a crutch and he threw water and lunging towards one of the men, kicking another in the thigh
“I want to apologise for everything...and I want to thank you for your judgment...”
Callam Munday, defending, said Shutov had been taken to hospital following a”vicious” attack in his home by someone with a machete.
“He was not in his normal state of mind when these incidents took place, and he is very sorry for the way he acted,” he added.
Mr Munday said as a result of the attack, Shutov now walks with a limp.
The judge, Recorder Simon Stirling, said: “These offences are serious because they happened during the pandemic and some of the attacks were on nurses who were there helping you.
“And at a time when resources are under particular stress, meaning some of the staff had to take time off work.”
