Comedian Paul O’Grady is on the mend after being admitted to hospital yesterday.
It was thought the TV presenter from Aldington would have to undergo surgery earlier today.
However routine tests revealed all is fine and his management have said that he will be spending a few days resting at home before returning to work.
It comes after the presenter recently returned to ITV on weekdays with his new programme, The Paul O’Grady Show.
The comic, famous for his Lily Savage alter ego, has already had two heart attacks before and has admitted he doesn’t think he will reach 60.
News of the 58-year-old animal lover’s recent ill health was revealed yesterday after bosses on his ITV show tweeted that Michael Ball would be replacing him as presenter temporarily.
@PaulOGradyShow said: “Sadly Paul’s feeling poorly, but join Michael Ball and guests tonight, it’ll be a hoot!”
Magician and TV presenter Stephen Mulhern was then lined up to cover tonight as a guest host.
Since he was admitted to hospital, celebrity friends have passed on their best wishes.
Phillip Schofield tweeted: “Sending lots of love to Paul O’Grady tonight. Get well soon mate.”
Paul, who lives on a farm in Aldington near Ashford, is expected to be released from hospital tomorrow.
