Pupils helped officially open a new £100,000 play area in Ashford.

The community facilities for youngsters of all ages were unveiled on the Godinton Park estate by pupils from the estate's primary school and borough councillors.

Lydia Parker, 10, Chidi Ognonnah, 11, Chandler Harper, eight, and Alex Fagg, eight, from the school won a competition to design signs for the new play area.

The new look playground replaces a 20-year-old one on the same site.

Cllr Peter Feacey said: "The play area is well used but was overdue for a makeover and it’s great to see the project becoming a reality."
