Police chase along M20 after thefts at Ashford Designer Outlet

Three men have been arrested after attempts to steal items from a shopping centre sparked a police chase on the M20.

Officers were called to reported attempts to steal items from shops at Ashford Designer Outlet on Wednesday afternoon.

A blue Audi SQ5 linked to the reports was tracked onto the M20 where it failed to stop for officers and was pursued.

The vehicle later stopped on land near Junction 6 of the motorway and the occupants fled.

A police spokesman said: “Beat team officers and members of the Kent roads policing unit carried out a search of the area and three men were arrested on suspicion of theft, with one further arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving. The car was seized.”

The men - aged between 21 and 24 and from north London and Dartford – have since been bailed pending further investigation.
