Three people are currently in police custody following arrests involving a police helicopter in the Chilmington area of Ashford last night.

People in Singleton had their Sunday night interrupted by the chopper circling above the Chilmington travellers’ site.

Details are still emerging but police say the arrests follow an incident in Great Chart and the helicopter was deployed to assist officers on the ground.

The helicopter began circling about 9pm and stayed for an hour, flying low over houses and using a searchlight.
