Suspected dangerous driver released after series of crashes in Ashford leave three cars damaged

Police are continuing to investigate suspected dangerous driving under the influence of drink or drugs after three cars were damaged in a string of collisions.

A 25-year-old man from Ashford was arrested after members of the public used cable ties to restrain him following a series of crashes in the town at around 6pm on Saturday.

It is reported that a silver Ford Fiesta was travelling along Trinity Road when it collided with a silver Vauxhall Vectra travelling in the same direction.

The car was then involved in two more collisions, first with a black Vauxhall Astra in Faversham Road and then a black Ford Mondeo at the junction of Faversham Road and Canterbury Road.

A suspect was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving while unfit through drink or drugs, driving otherwise than in accordance than a licence, driving without insurance and failing to provide a breath test.

He has since been released under investigation.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: "Officers would like to speak to anyone who saw any of the three collisions, or if they have dashcam footage which might assist enquiries."
