Police 'tracked down' a man after alcohol and other items were reportedly taken from a convenience store.
A man has since been arrested and is now due in court after being charged with theft.
Officers were called to the One Stop store in Beaver Road, Ashford on Sunday (September 18) after it was alleged a man had taken items, including alcohol, from the store without paying.
Officers made an arrest, at which point it is alleged the man shouted racial abuse.
Luke Tucker, 28, from West Midlands has been charged with theft and a racially aggravated public order offence.
He will appear before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on October 19.
The Ashford policing team also Tweeted about the incident.
The post said: "Following a report of shoplifting in Beaver Road, our town team and ASB officers tracked down a male as he attempted to leave the area.
"He has been charged in custody for theft and racially aggravated public order offences."
