It was parked in the venue’s garden in Canterbury Road ahead of its “Modified Mayhem” event.

The 2007 Porsche belongs to the pub’s co-owner Roger Gray, who woke to the devastating phone call at 2.30am.

“It was an electrical fire,” said Mr Gray.

“I’m sorting out the insurance now, but I'm a bit numb by it all.”

Speaking on Facebook, Mr Gray added: “Apologies to everyone for the impromptu “burnt-out car art installation”, not quite sure words can describe at the min what I’m feeling … but it is what it is.

“Thanks to everyone who showed up and supported the event this morning, there were some proper cool cars turning up.

“Sadly I’d seen enough so thanks to everyone already sending love and sympathy and some of you there who shook my hand and to the B_Road fam as always, see you soon.”

Kent Fire and Rescue says one fire engine attended, and the crew put the fire out using a hose reel jet.

There were no reported injuries.

Formerly the Halfway House, the pub in Canterbury Road, reopened with a car theme in May after months of renovations.

It was taken over by Mr Gray and business partner Edd Little as a haven for motorsport fans.

Last month drivers visiting the pub were urged to “leave with respect” amid fears the site could be shut down if visitors keep breaking the rules of the road.

The owners put out the warning after reports of visitors revving engines and speeding along the A252 Canterbury Road and A251 Faversham Road.
