A large Poundland store which has been shut for more than four months will finally reopen this week.
Ashford's branch of the discount retail giant closed in August, sparking frustration among shoppers in the town.
The closure was only expected to last four weeks but has dragged on for months, leading to fears the County Square unit would never reopen.
But when the second lockdown is lifted on Wednesday, shoppers will be allowed back in the former BHS site, which stocks the chain’s Pep&Co clothing range.
“We’re pleased to be reopening our store at Ashford County Square on December 2," a spokesman said.
“All our staff are looking forward to welcoming our customers and the community back to the store and helping them get ready for Christmas.
“Like all our other stores, Poundland Ashford will have health and safety measures in place, such as social distancing, screens at checkouts and robust hygiene regimes.”
In the summer, bosses said the store had gone into “hibernation” due to a low number of shoppers visiting the unit.
Poundland filled the prime site in 2018, having previously operated from the former JJB Sports shop a few doors down.
The store will be open between 8am and 6pm Wednesday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.
