A group of protesters gathered outside kmfm's offices in Ashford this morning to demonstrate against changes to the station's breakfast show.

Between 15 and 20 people took part in a two-hour protest over the loss of presenters Kirstyn and Webbo, following kmfm's move last week to a countywide breakfast show presented by Rob Wills.

Mark Smith, 38, who helped organise a Facebook campaign to bring back the presenters, said: "They were a big part of the community in Ashford and have a left a big void. Since the show went countywide, it is not the same"

He added: "The town deserves better and should have its own station."

Many passing motorists sounded their horns in support of the protesters.

Mr Smith said he was now applying for an online petition, demanding the setting-up of an Ashford-only radio station.

A kmfm spokesman said: "We appreciate some listeners have been upset by the change to the schedule as our presenters had built up loyal followings.

'However, our move to one breakfast show will allow us to cement our position as the leading commercial radio station for Kent. One breakfast show means we can offer bigger and better prizes and promotions than ever before, whilst providing the very best local news, traffic and information."
