YOUNG MCs Bruno and Blitz are determined to make it to the top with their brand of socially-aware rapping, and they hope an appearance on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent will be their springboard to success.

Ashford Towers School pupil Bruno Makuze, 16, of Towers View in Kennington, and 18-year-old Nicky Curtin, AKA Blitz, a former Christ Church pupil who lives in The Limes in South Ashford, form two thirds of a trio of MCs who auditioned for the nationwide talent show this week.

The third member, 32-year-old youth worker Tapiza Nzou, whose stage name is Blade, is the founder and manager of the group, while beats are provided by producer Ashley Brooker, 18, from Knight’s Park in Kingsnorth.

Bruno said: “We really want to make it. Our lyrics have a positive social message to get out to the youth, instead of doing what everyone else is doing.”

Both committed Christians who are in the congregation at the Revival Centre in Kingsnorth Road, Blitz and Bruno have a strict no swearing policy in their lyrics.

Blitz said: “It’s a lot easier to get our things noticed if we take out the swearing and the violence. In fact our songs are all anti-violence.”

Early auditions for Britain’s Got Talent took place on Sunday and the boys are confident they did themselves justice.

“Being confident is the best way to be, although we are not exactly expecting to win,” Bruno said.
