Faversham boss Ray Turner hopes his side’s midweek eight-goal thriller in the FA Trophy will help persuade some of the town’s stay-away fans to return to Salters Lane.

Just 91 supporters watched on as Faversham produced two comebacks against Walton Casuals on a dramatic night as Town booked their place in the FA Trophy first qualifying round.

The Lilywhites beat the Surrey club 5-3 after extra-time in Tuesday’s replay to set up an away tie to Ryman League, Division 1 North side Waltham Forest on October 22.

Following last Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Walton, Town found themselves 2-0 down at half-time in midweek before staging a second-half comeback.

Turner said: "If that doesn’t get people off their backsides to watch football at Salters Lane, I don’t know what will. You can’t ask for much more in a game which included two comebacks.

"I’m proud of the players. We asked for a reaction at half-time and to come back the way we did says a lot about the squad.

Town are without a game this weekend and return to action on Tuesday night when they entertain Eastbourne Town in The Alan Boon Cup.
