Neil Cugley is delighted to see young striker Richard Atkins play his way into Folkestone’s first team plans.
The Invicta manager (pictured) threw the player into the side over the Bank Holiday weekend due to injuries and he was on the scoresheet in Monday’s 4-1 home win over Whitstable.
On a week when Jimmy Dryden, who scored 138 goals during his spell with the club, joined local rivals Hythe, it’s a case of out with the old and in with the new at the Buzzlines Stadium.
Cugley, who for several years has been forced to turn to the youth due to limitations in his transfer budget, is delighted to have uncovered another gem.
He said: "Richard came in and he has been outstanding and he will play again on Saturday whatever happens.
"He has done that well and couldn’t have done any better. "He looks a really good prospect."
Both Jones (ankle) and King (hamstring) face fitness tests this weekend when Invicta begin their FA Cup campaign with a home game against fellow Ryman South Division 1 side Whyteleafe in the Preliminary Qualifying Round of the competition.
