A cabinet reshuffle at County Hall has seen the demise of the politician who was among the most outspoken critics of spending on the Ashford ring road.
Cllr Keith Ferrin, who was KCC cabinet member for highways, has been moved aside and leaves the cabinet after more than a decade.
Cllr Ferrin made no secret of his unhappiness about how much money was lavished on re-developing the ring road and the shared space development.
Just weeks ago, he admitted too much money had gone on expensive street furniture such as rubbish bins. He also criticised the streetlights which cost £7,000 each.
It is not known whether Cllr Ferrin had wanted to leave his cabinet post or refused another job offered to him.
His post has been handed to former finance cabinet member Cllr Nick Chard.
Cllr Chard said: "I look forward to us working together as a cohesive force to continue building momentum on our successful track record over the last 12 years at County Hall."
