An application to ‘extend’ two named roads within the Victoria Way development in Ashford has been submitted to the council.

Ashford Borough Council received a street naming application from Kent County Council in February to officially name the new road being constructed.

Once complete, the new road will run from the existing Leacon Road through previously unused brownfield land to join the existing Victoria Road.

Rather than changing the name of the two roads into one, which would affect businesses and the local primary school, the proposal is to extend the existing road names of Victoria Road and Leacon Road to meet in the middle, at the current junction with Gasworks Lane.

Appeals or comment on the naming proposal need to be made by Tuesday March 8.
