Roadworks have sparked major delays on an arterial route between two major Kent towns.

Commuters travelling between Faversham and Ashford are advised to avoid the A251 as works by telecom company Openreach are causing long lines of traffic.

Rush hour traffic was brought to a crawl this morning as hundreds of cars attempted to navigate the route.

Multi-way traffic lights at the intersection with Lees Court Road are set to be in place until late on Thursday night.
