Two people had to be cut free by firefighters following a four-vehicle crash in Lenham.
Crews were forced to remove the roofs off two separate vehicles to release them, before they were passed into the care of paramedics.
The crash happened on the A20 near the Faversham Road junction at around 4.50pm, closing the road in both directions.
It is said to involved a van and three other vehicles.
Kent County Council highways officers were also called to the scene to clear debris from the road.
Fire crews remained at the scene until just before 6pm.
A spokesman said: "Firefighters used hydraulic rescue equipment to cut the roofs off two of the vehicles to release two casualties - both were passed into the care of the ambulance service, as were others involved in the incident."
